Jane Mosbacher Morris on Empowering Better Business with Stefan Whitwell on CELEBRATE Like a CEO Podcast

Jane Mosbacher Morris, CEO of TO THE MARKET, was interviewed by Stefan Whitwell on empowering makers around the world to engage in ethical, sustainable manufacturing and sourcing.

Jane Mosbacher Morris founded TO THE MARKET with a vision of democratizing access to the global supply chain and providing makers around the world with the economic empowerment that comes from safe, dignified, fairly paid work. TO THE MARKET is a turnkey solution for ethical manufacturing, connecting makers to their syndicated network of sustainable, story-rich suppliers. They are on a mission to empower people, protect the planet, and promote better business - and they do it without sacrificing speed, innovation, or digitization.

Jane previously served as the Director of Humanitarian Action for the McCain Institute for International Leadership and currently serves on the Institute's Human Trafficking Advisory Council. Prior to joining the Institute, she worked in the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Counterterrorism and in the Secretary's Office of Global Women's Issues. Jane is a member of VF Corporation's Advisory Council on Responsible Sourcing. She is also a term member at the Council on Foreign Relations and a member of the CARE Board of Directors. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. She is the author of Penguin Random House/Tarcher Perigee book, Buy the Change You Want to See: Use Your Purchasing Power to Make the World a Better Place (January, 2019). The book was a Target Non-Fiction Best-Seller, a #1 Consumer Guide on Amazon, and a #1 New Business Ethics Release on Amazon. In 2020, Fortune Magazine named Jane one of the 25 World’s Greatest Leaders because of her response to COVID-19.

In a recently released episode of Celebrate Like A CEO! Podcast, Jane talked with host Stefan Whitwell about her decision to found TO THE MARKET, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on global supply chains and the need for diversification, and why she sees patience as one of the ultimate business superpowers.

“Patience can be a business superpower if you know how to manage it and you utilize it well,” explains Jane Mosbacher Morris, CEO of TO THE MARKET, a women-owned technology enabled B Corp which provides transparency in the international supply chain, allowing retailers, brands and corporations to procure goods and quantify both the environmental and social impact of their procurement. Growing up, Jane learned patience and discipline through ballet and musical theater, dreaming of someday acting on Broadway. Instead, these critical skills, the work ethic, and the confidence she gained from performing helped her to step into her role as a CEO.
