Mortgage giant Fannie Mae is subleasing some surplus office space in its Plano high-rise to an Addison tech firm.

Financial software firm Trintech is leasing two floors and more than 38,000 square feet of space in Fannie Mae's high-rise in Plano's Granite Park development.

Architect Gensler is designing Trintech's new office, which is starting construction this month.

"Trintech has seen tremendous growth over the past several years and sees an even greater growth trajectory over the next five plus years so this new world-class facility was essential in ensuring we can continue to support the needs of our expanding team as we rapidly scale our global business," Omar Choucair, Trintech chief financial officer, said in a statement. "After an extensive evaluation of the market and other business factors, we were thrilled to secure their new headquarters at Granite Park."

About 9 million square feet of excess office space is up for sublease in North Texas. The amount of sublease office space has swollen since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Net office leasing in the area has declined sharply in the last year with most companies keeping their office workers at home.
