A 39-year-old man who killed a 16-year-old girl in 2018 and wounded two others during a shooting in an Allentown home has pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault, court records show.

A charge of criminal homicide against Antwan Washington was resolved as the third-degree count -- meaning the killing wasn’t preplanned -- and two counts of attempted homicide were withdrawn in the deal, court papers say.

Washington, who is being held without bail, is set to be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 29. All three charges are first-degree felonies which each carry sentences of up to 20 years.

On July 31, 2018, Washington entered the home at 533 Harrison St. that he had been sharing with the mother of his children, Britney Garland. Adrian Welch, then 19, and his girlfriend Carolina Monsanto, 16, were at the kitchen table as Garland cooked, according to testimony during Washington’s 2019 preliminary hearing in Lehigh County.

Garland testified she and Washington had argued earlier in the week, and Washington said he was moving out. Washington, who goes by the name Twiz, went to New York on July 29, and told Garland to sell his car.

Garland said she thought she had a buyer and let Washington know, but the buyer backed out. She said she was surprised when Washington came to her home the evening of July 31.

Welch greeted Washington, and Garland said Washington “flipped” and told Welch not to talk to him.
