Fresno, CA (August 29, 2021) – A stretch of Shaw Avenue was closed overnight on the evening of August 28 while authorities in Fresno investigated the circumstances of a hit-and-run accident that took one life. A 60-year-old man was left with a collapsed lung and broken bones after being struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene of the wreck. The man was traveling by foot across the eastbound lanes of Shaw near Golden State Boulevard at approximately 11:30 p.m. when he was struck by a dark-colored lifted pick-up truck. Paramedics, police, and fire crews were seen at the scene of the collision shortly after it occurred. The man was transported to an area hospital in order to receive treatment for critical injuries sustained in the accident. Traffic was delayed in the area for an extended period of time while authorities and other responders worked at the scene. No one involved has been identified to the public at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family in hopes of a full recovery. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
