Lee Co, MS (August 28, 2021) – A Mississippi woman was killed when the car she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer on Friday, August 27th. The Lee County Coroner Carolyn identified the victim as 71-year-old Mary Gipson, a resident of Smithville. The wreck happened at about 12:30 p.m. when a tractor-trailer and Gipson’s car collided in the westbound lanes on Interstate 22 near the Mantachie/Mooreville exit. Gipson was pronounced dead at the scene. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
