‘You won't welcome anyone with garland if...’: Dushyant Chautala defends police action on farmers - Times Now

Chandigarh: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Tuesday appeared to defend the police action against protesting farmers in Karnal.

Chautala , who is a leader of the JJP, an ally of the ruling BJP in Haryana, said “you will not welcome anyone with garland if they try to attack you”.

He further said that police resorted to lathi-charge as they had to maintain law and order.

“Video of police facing attacks has surfaced. You won't welcome anyone with garland if they try to attack you, they had to lathi-charge. Police’s job is to maintain law and order. We have made sure there is no use of excessive force in last nine months,” he said.

Speaking on the months-long farmers’ protest at Delhi borders, he said: “If intention is to create chaos, then it is different. But if intention is to work for farmers and farm laws, then they must have regular talks. Where are those 40 people who said MSP and markets won't exist and lands will be occupied.”

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, on Monday, alleged that former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and other Congress leaders are "instigating farmers" in his state.
