Ionia woman charged with OWI causing death in June crash - Greenville Daily News

IONIA — A 48-year-old woman from Ionia has been charged with operating while intoxicated in the death of a 30-year-old motorcyclist in a crash in June on M-66, just south of M-21.
Terasa Lyn Trebian was arraigned Tuesday in Ionia County 64A District Court on two counts: operating while intoxicated causing death, and alcohol — open container in vehicle, according to the Ionia Department of Public Safety’s Facebook page.
The charges stem from a fatal accident on June 17, when Christopher Wright was struck and killed in front of the Bowling Alley-Ionia at 420 N. Dexter St. (M-66) in the city of Ionia.
Officers were dispatched around 5:28 p.m. to a report of a personal injury accident. When they arrived, they found Wright pinned under the front end of a GMC Envoy. He was deceased at the scene, according to IDPS.
Trebian, the driver of the GMC Envoy, was questioned and released.
With incidents involving death, the suspect is rarely arrested at the scene, IDPS Director Troy Thomas told the Daily News.
“As we did a blood draw, we did not know what her BAC (blood alcohol concentration) actually was, so we had to wait for the results and did a thorough investigation so as to present a solid case to the prosecutor to make the eventual charges stand up in court,” Thomas said.
Ionia County Prosecutor Kyle Butler told the Daily News that at Trebian’s arraignment, he indicated to the court that her blood labs came back at .173%. In Michigan, drivers who operate a motor vehicle with a...
