Hancock Co, MS - Brandon Irby Dies in Pedestrian Crash on I-10 | Germany Law Firm PLLC - Bob Germany Law

Hancock Co, MS (September 2, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed in the aftermath of a traffic accident in Hancock County on Tuesday, August 31.
The collision occurred on Interstate 10 early that morning. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at around 1:30 a.m. According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, 33-year-old Elwin Wise of Three Rivers, Michigan was traveling westbound on the highway in a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck at the time of the crash.
The pickup reportedly left the roadway where it crashed into three parked vehicles. Local reports revealed that Brandon Irby of Belton, South Carolina, was standing near his vehicle. He was also hit by the Dodge. Irby sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly pedestrian crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials.

Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Mississippi
According to statistics, pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than drivers to die in traffic accidents. Despite having one of the lowest levels of pedestrian activity in the country, Mississippi has one of the worst pedestrian fatality rates. Pedestrian deaths have been steadily rising in recent years in the United States. This is true despite a decrease in overall vehicle fatalities.
In 2017, there were 5,977 pedestrian fatalities in the United States....
