Jury trial begins for group charged in incident involving recall supporters, opponent - KRCRTV.COM

The jury trial has begun for Carlos Zapata, Elizabeth Bailey and Chris Meagher who are charged in connection with an altercation at a downtown Redding bar in May.
On May 4, 2021, at a Redding restaurant, where outspoken recall opponent Nathan "Blaze" Pinkney was working at the time. Christopher Meagher, Elizabeth Bailey and Emiliano Carlos Zapata have been charged with battery and disturbing the peace by fighting following an alternation that night between themselves and Pinkney.
Zapata is the founder of Red, White and Blueprint, a documentary series and media company supporting the recall efforts of three Shasta County supervisors.
Pinkney told police Zapata threw a drink at him before Zapata was asked to leave. In an interview with KRCR, Pinkney said the trio then confronted him outside the restaurant and Bailey grabbed him while Meagher hit him in the face.
Zapata wasn't available for an on-camera interview at the time but told KRCR's Mike Mangas over the phone that he splashed a drink on Blaze, but that the whole thing was overblown and that Blaze was "an instigator and agitator. [This] is being blown out of proportion by a person with an agenda."
Meagher is also charged with felony assault by force likely to produce great bodily injury, felony elder abuse and personal infliction of great bodily injury in an unrelated case.
In the early-morning hours of June 26 at The Tropics Bar in Redding police say Meagher and a 73-year old man unofficially identified only as "Bob."...
