NHC: Hurricane Larry is larger and a bit stronger | Loop Cayman Islands - Loop News Cayman

The US National Hurricane Centre (NHC) said Hurricane Larry has become larger and stronger as it churns in the eastern Atlantic Ocean.

In the 11 am update, NHC said Larry now has maximum sustained winds that are near 80 mph (130 km/h). The storm is located about 660 miles (1065 km) west of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands and is moving toward the west near 17 mph (28 km/h).

The storm is expected to turn towards the west-northwest and its forward speed will decrease during the next few days.

NHC forecast that Larry will become a major hurricane by Friday night.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect for Larry.
