Sex offender arrested for failing to register social media account - wpde.com

GREENVILLE, Pitt County — A registered sex offender out of Greenville was arrested for having an active social media account that he did not disclose to the sheriff's office.

On September 2, Aaron Wesley Creel, 39, was arrested and charged with three felony counts of failure to report a new online identifier, according to law officials with the sheriff's office.

Deputies with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office said an investigation revealed that Creel's social media account had not been registered with the sheriff's office and State of North Carolina which is required by state law.

Creel was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center. He was released under a $25,000 secured bond.
