Raleigh, NC (September 4, 2021) – At 9:15 p.m. on the night of Saturday, September 4, a wrong-way accident occurred in Raleigh.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, the accident happened on Poole Road around the area of I-87 A driver was traveling in the wrong direction in the area when the driver collided with another vehicle head-on. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. One or more victims were seriously injured as a result of the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their conditions are not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
