Giants News: New York Gets Bad Evan Engram Injury Update - The Duel

The New York Giants look to bounce back from a disappointing 6-10 campaign last year but will likely kick off the season without their leading tight end. After dealing with a hamstring injury throughout the preseason, tight end Evan Engram is poised to miss Week 1 of the 2021 season.
Engram hasn't officially been ruled out for Week 1 yet, but NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported the fifth-year tight end is a "long-shot" to be cleared for Sunday's contest against the Denver Broncos.
Evan Engram Injury Update
At this point, it's a relief that Engram was even considered a long-shot possibility to be ready for Week 1. Just a few days ago, reports suggested that New York considered placing their 27-year-old tight end on the injured reserve.
While it appears the Giants avoided the multiple weeks of absence that comes with an IR placement, the loss of Engram is still a blow to New York's offense. Engram is a favorite target of quarterback Daniel Jones. He led the roster with 109 targets and turned those into 654 receiving yards and 1 touchdown in 2020.
Engram has recorded two 100-target seasons and 14 total touchdowns across his first four years in the league. New York heads into Week 1 as 2.5-point home underdogs against the Broncos on FanDuel Sportsbook.
