Raleigh, NC (September 5, 2021) – At 11:27 a.m. on Sunday morning, September 5, a rollover accident occurred in Raleigh.
According to Raleigh Police, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-40 around the area of Hammond Road. Multiple vehicles were traveling on the highway in the area when they suddenly collided, causing one of the vehicles to forcefully overturn. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions are not known at this time.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time until police cleared the scene. This led to enormous delays for some time.
The investigation into the accident continues.
