TKR peaking at the right time - Pollard | Loop Cayman Islands - Loop News Cayman

Kieron Pollard says his Trinbago Knight Riders team is finding momentum at the right time in the 2021 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The Knight Riders beat the Jamaica Tallawahs for the second time in three days on Tuesday to move up to second place in the 2021 CPL table.

"We just want to continue, we are peaking at the right time. We are just trying to cover all the bases," said Pollard.

The tactical nous of the Knight Riders' captain was on full display during the Jamaica match.

Pollard used trump card, Sunil Narine, to perfection to counteract the threat of Andre Russell and Carlos Brathwaite.

"We wanted someone like Narine to bowl 3-4 overs in the back end, the game got away from us after he was done in the last match. Ali Khan keeps doing it for us every time," the TKR skipper said.

The Knight Riders used a more conservative approach to batting in the Jamaica match getting to 105/4 in 17.2 overs.

However, Pollard, fired up by a confrontation with Russell, and the explosive Tim Seifert combusted to power home 62 runs off the last 16 balls.

Pollard finished with 39 off 18 balls, with Seifert smashing 24 off 8 balls.

"Not the ideal sort of position we wanted to be after 17 overs, but we've got to consider the conditions. We lost two set batters there. Me and Tim got the impetus. It wasn't going to be easy and to get 160 was a good job," Pollard said.

The second-placed Knight Riders are next in action against the struggling Barbados Royals on 9 September.
