Each year, MBJ honors the top legal minds in the Mid-South with the annual Best of the Bar awards. The 2021 honorees include attorneys from some of the preeminent law firms in Memphis to public sector practitioners to legal entrepreneurs. And their practice areas are just as varied, with education, family, and immigration law — plus commercial litigation and criminal prosecution and defense all represented.
This year’s group of legal eagles runs the gamut from veterans of many arguments and trials to some professionals early into what promises to be long careers. The honorees were selected by MBJ’s editorial team.
Here is one of those 2021 Best of the Bar honorees:
Daniel Parish, Wolff Ardis PC
Law school: University of Miami
Areas of practice: Product liability and personal injury
Favorite TV or movie lawyer: Rudy Baylor from “The Rainmaker”
While Daniel Parish enjoys his day job in the courtroom, there is something he loves to do and would have made it a career if not for being an attorney.
Parish said he would have owned his own brewery. When he had more free time, Parrish brewed a lot of beer at home.
“I love the practice of law, but it doesn’t always give me the creative and/or artistic outlet that I need,” Parish said. “Brewing beer let me create something myself, and it was quite fulfilling. I got to be quite good at it, and I would find myself daydreaming of owning my own brewery.”
