Lafayette Co, MS (September 13, 2021) – A car accident in Lafayette County on Thursday, September 9, ended in a fatality.
The deadly crash took place near the crossing of US-278 and County Road 421. Local reports revealed that the collision occurred that day at around 4:40 p.m. The Mississippi Highway Patrol reported that 35-year-old Christopher D. Downey of New Albany was driving a 2019 Dodge Ram pickup truck eastbound on MS-6 at the time of impact.
At the same time, 67-year-old Rickey D. Britt was headed northbound on County Road 421. Britt’s vehicle reportedly entered the path of Downey’s pickup. Local reports confirmed that Britt sustained fatal injuries in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No further updates have been provided at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is underway.
