Farah & Farah law firm launches second Empowering Greatness Scholarship - Gainesville Sun

Farah & Farah law firm has launched its second annual Empowering Greatness Scholarship — an award geared towards helping low-income and high-risk students who live in high crime neighborhoods.
Farah & Farah is a personal injury law firm that has over 20 offices throughout Florida and Georgia.
Five high school seniors who are committed to breaking the cycle of gun violence and poverty through pursuing higher education will be chosen.
According to the press release, the scholarship will pay for the first two years at any Florida college or university.
In its first year the scholarship was able to award $5,000 to 20 high school seniors and undergraduate students.

The Empowering Greatness Scholarship was inspired by the quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, "Everybody can be great because everybody can serve."
Recipients are chosen based on academic performance and community service initiatives.
The deadline to apply for this year's scholarship is Oct. 8. Scholarship recipients will be notified on Nov. 5.
The scholarship program is a collaboration between the Florida Prepaid College Foundation and the Goodwill Industries of North Florida Inc.
The Empowering Greatness Scholarship will prepay tuition, registration fees and local fees for 60 lower-division credit hours at Florida colleges. The scholarship also can be applied toward a four-year university or technical degree.
