Nicki Minaj’s attempt to start a discussion about COVID-19 vaccines has grabbed headlines after she claimed that her cousin’s friend became impotent from the vaccine.

Minaj said to her 22.6 million followers on Twitter that the friend in Trinidad became impotent and as such his fiancée called off the wedding.

She tweeted: “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”

According to the US Centres for Disease Control, there is no evidence that the vaccines cause infertility problems in men.

Minaj's tweet did not go down well with some of her fans who pointed out that her cousin's friend more than likely had an STD.

“Chlamydia is a more likely explanation - and may also explain why the relationship ended. While there is unfortunately no licensed vaccine against chlamydia yet, there are vaccines against other STDs, like HBV and HPV. Maybe spread that information instead of misinformation,” said Florian...
