Global products giant Samsung is expanding its Plano regional office center again.

In 2018, the South Korea-based consumer products giant announced that it would move 1,000 workers to the Legacy Central business campus on U.S. Highway 75 in Plano. The company initially leased more than 200,000 square feet of space in the project to house workers previously located in buildings in Richardson and other Dallas-area locations.

Then in 2020, Samsung expanded the Plano office by another 75,000 square feet, according to planning documents filed with the state.

Now Samsung is expanding the Legacy Central operation again with plans for a more than 60,000-square-foot addition, according to the latest planning files.

The tech firm is spending almost $11 million on the new office digs at 6625 Declaration Way.

Architect Gensler is designing the new offices.

Samsung is the largest tenant at Legacy Central, which is owned by California-based developer and investor Regent Properties.

In 2016, Regent Properties bought the 84-acre former Texas Instruments campus in Plano and spent more than $100 million to transform the old campus into a mixed-use project with new office space, conference facilities, additional parking and apartments.

The $300 million project includes almost 1 million square feet of buildings that once housed office and research operations for Texas Instruments.

Last year, Hana Financial — one of South Korea’s major investors — became a part owner of the Legacy Central building that houses Samsung.

Along with Samsung, mortgage firm Freddie Mac and fitness products company Peloton are major tenants in the office buildings.
