Man Sues Psychic Who Allegedly Demanded $5,100 to Lift Ex-Girlfriend Curse - Newsweek

A California man is suing a "psychic love specialist" who allegedly promised to remove a curse placed on him by an ex-girlfriend—provided he paid her $5,100.

According a Fox 11 report on Tuesday, a fraud suit filed by Mauro Restrepo with Torrance Superior Court says psychic Sophia Adams said she could save his marriage provided he paid the necessary fee to exorcise the spell.

She also allegedly warned Restrepo he and his family would be "unhappy and in danger" unless the curse was lifted.

Despite making a down payment on the fee, Restrepo's suit says it "did not in any way help" his situation, prompting him to launch legal proceedings.

Adams and her business, Psychic Love Specialist By Sophia are named as defendants in the suit along with her husband, George R. Adams and daughter Tiffany Winston, who is also named as Tiffany Johnson and Tiffany Adams in the legal documents.

Christ and Polly Koutroumbis, Adams' landlords, are also named as defendants.

Restrepo is seeking $25,000 in compensatory damages along with punitive damages.

The suit, which was filed last Friday, also alleges negligence, civil conspiracy and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

According to the suit, Restrepo came across Adams' website while searching for psychics on Google on September 17.

The court documents say that because Adams described herself as a "psychic love specialist" and "Ph.D Life Coach," Restrepo was "more confident that he was speaking with a professional that could help him."

After exchanging text messages, Adams invited him to her home in Palos Verdes Estates, where she operates her business, and gave him a tarot card reading.

During the reading, the suit states she told Restrepo had had "mala suerte" or "bad luck" placed on him "by a witch hired by his ex-girlfriend."

Restrepo was allegedly told that unless he had the curse removed it would not only impact his life but the lives of his children while his marriage would also suffer.

But despite handing over $1,000 as a deposit, Restrepo said his marriage continued to suffer while the legal documents say he has been dogged by sleepless nights and feelings of both anguish and anxiety ever since.

The suit alleges that Adams' family and landlords are also guilty of failing to stop her from causing harm in the community through her business practices.

Adams who, according to her nextdoor profile, offers "psychic readings, tarot and love readings, psychic love spells and potions, past life readings, and psychic medium services in the South Bay Los Angeles, CA area."

"When visiting with me you will find that I won't tell you what you want to hear; I will tell you what you need to know. I will tell you everything with little or no information from you," a message on her website explains.

"You will find truth, understand your stress and release concerns whether it be for you or someone you care about. No matter which reading or service you choose you will see results and accuracy guaranteed."

Newsweek has contacted Adams for comment.
