Announced in April of 2021 by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), the Investment Company Institute (ICI), and The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), the collaborative effort would accelerate the U.S. securities settlement cycle from two days (T+2) to one day (T+1). This plan is proposed to take effect in 2023 and is supported by the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gary Gensler.
