Delivering both load testing services and cybersecurity penetration testing services to such a titan of the gaming industry put our teams and skills to the test. Penetration Testing on Live Services with Avalanche Studios Group
The Avalanche Studios Group are another impressive name in the industry, delivering titles like Just Cause, Rage 2, and Generation Zero. We’ve had the pleasure of assisting them with penetration testing services for live service using their in-house ‘Apex Engine’. Used by multiple games in their portfolio, we were sought out by Avalanche to help them identify and resolve security vulnerabilities before they could affect the company reputation and player safety.
Our penetration testing services focused on an array areas susceptible to malicious actions including registration & authentication, user & account management, friend & Clan systems, inventory management, matchmaking, and Twitch integration. Once our collaboration was complete, they left us with this testimonial:

Grey Box Penetration Testing for DOOM Eternal
The Cyrex team, early in our collaboration, had the incredible opportunity to conduct Grey Box penetration testing for Bethesda’s DOOM Eternal! Security engineers were contracted to handle backend non-gameplay services of DOOM Eternal with a focus on the validity of server-side security controls. Their ethical hacking expertize targeted functionalities such as the matchmaking system, party and party management systems, creation and registration of player accounts, session management and authentication, and in-game achievement and rewards.
Our security engineers found a number of vulnerabilities ranging from low priority to some that Bethesda marked as critical. Happy with our services, we engaged in sanity and regression testing once patching was complete and DOOM Eternal entered player hands more secure and ready for the hordes of hell!
White Box Penetration Testing on Raid: Shadow Legends
Lastly, a name recognized by every player out there! The security team had the opportunity to conduct full white box penetration testing on Raid: Shadow Legends testing the Unreal Engine game on both PC & Mobile with a focus on the live service elements.
We tested multiple core features including the reward system, in-game shop, upgrade system, building system, heroes and characters, daily bonuses, and the battle system. The results of our full source code evaluation and deep dive discovered several critical vulnerabilities which the Plarium team were pleased to solve. The White Box package allowed the team to offer a full rundown of the source code for weak points and how they could be addressed. Once all was said and done, Plarium had this to say:
