The Dr. James Morales Award for Music Education is open to currently enrolled undergraduate students at accredited colleges or universities in the United States. Eligible candidates must be pursuing a degree or career in music or music education and exhibit a strong passion for their craft along with a clear vision for how they intend to use their talent to positively impact others.
As part of the application process, students are invited to submit a 500-word essay responding to the prompt:
“How has music shaped your identity, and how do you plan to use your education and talent to impact the world around you?”
The selection committee is seeking thoughtful and personal reflections that highlight a student’s dedication, purpose, and long-term aspirations within the musical arts.
Applications must be submitted by January 15, 2026, and the winner will be publicly announced on February 15, 2026.
