HOUSTON, TX - September 24, 2019 - Beauty Backer, LLC today announces that it will launch as the first crowdfunding website exclusively for beauty products on September 26th, 2019 at the Beauty & Money Summit NYC. www.beautybacker.co will serve as the site for reward-based crowdfunding specific to the beauty industry. The platform will have 9 main categories: Cosmetics, Skincare. Haircare, Men’s Grooming, Bath and Body, Wellness, Fragrances, Gender-Neutral, and Beauty Technology. With beauty-specific categories, Beauty Backer makes it easy for beauty enthusiasts, investors, and taste makers to find and fund the next big thing in beauty.
“I’ve been an amateur inventor for most of my life. I was working on an invention which happened to be in the beauty industry,” states Jacqueline Gutierrez, Founder and CEO of Beauty Backer. “My project didn’t belong on Indiegogo and forcing it into Design or Fashion categories all but set me up for failure.”
Like many entrepreneurs looking to fund their products, Gutierrez turned to Kickstarter and Indiegogo for a categorical fit for her hair product. However, she found that the beauty industry was absent, and most beauty-centric founders failed to meet their campaign goals. When they fall short of their funding goals, the founders behind these brands end up frustrated, stalled, and shaken in their confidence that the market wants what they’re selling.
On platforms like Indiegogo and Kickstarter, the competition to be noticed and funded is too steep for individual beauty products. Approximately 70% of their contributors are men and the success rate for beauty is only about 25% on Kickstarter, even though crowdfunding is an important step on a brand’s journey to success. In the meantime, the global beauty market is expected to grow from $432.7 billion in 2016 to $750 billion by 2024.
Beauty Backer is where beauty trendsetters can go to find and fund creative and innovative beauty products before they land on the shelves of Sephora. It is designed to accommodate a user base of Gen Z and Millennial beauty enthusiasts who care about sustainable, clean, natural, organic health and beauty products. They look to social media influencers, YouTubers, specialty retailers like Sephora and Ulta, and big-box stores like Target to find what’s new in beauty. The platform also allows for ‘radical transparency’ between backers and founders. With a built-in audience of avid beauty buyers, crowdfunding on Beauty Backer makes it easy for projects to reach their funding goals.
Within its diverse categories, Beauty Backer provides space for inclusivity. Beauty Backer advocates that beauty is for everyone and transcends gender, race or sexual orientation. It is about whatever makes an individual look and feel good about themselves.
