DRAID Services: Artificial Intelligence Integration into its Operations - Is it a Big Leap for Pentagon?

Data Readiness for Artificial Intelligence Development or DRAID Services. Pentagon integrates AI in its operations to analyze its military data.

The Joint Artificial Intelligence Center of the US Pentagon is the latest organization to solicit Artificial Intelligence to analyze its military data.

A New Beginning in the Department of US Defense

The apex Defense Organization of the US has expressed its interest in working with businesses and signing an agreement that would interpret its military data for optimized analysis and defense-related decisions. The step marks a new beginning in the Department of Defense’s initiative to get tech-savvy. The initiative has been named the Data Readiness for Artificial Intelligence Development or DRAID Services.

The objective behind the Artificial Intelligence Integration

The DRAID is believed to be a big leap for Pentagon as it readies itself to integrate Artificial Intelligence into its operations and functioning. The business partner will have a major role in all of this as its primary role would be to make the Center’s data ready for AI applications. The end objective behind AI is to derive valuable insights once the applications capture and sort the data.

The DRAID Agreement has been made to help the Government and the Department of Defense users produce data that AI applications can use. The Center understands that preparing data for AI can be a complex gamut but required in modern times to offer progressive commercial services.

What All are Included in the DRAID Agreement?

It will involve all the phases in creating data-readiness for Artificial Intelligence, including data consumption, labeling, and model training. Underlying the data readiness endeavor and Agreement is that the AI-data creation task needs to be compliant with the government standards.

It includes interoperability and integrability of the data across multiple clouds and Artificial Intelligence platforms that the Department of Defense is currently using. All the existing AI cloud platforms within the Department need to be integrated as part of the Performance Work Statement. The data would also be reused in other projects that work with AI and on the cloud.

Ethical Practices and Principles

Ethical use of Artificial Intelligence has also been outlined in the Request for Proposal. It means that the proposed partners or contractors produce proof to show that their systems and products integrate seamlessly with the ethical practices and principles of the Department.

The RFP mentions a list of task orders that include project management; data architecture, engineering, and data science; data quality; data acquisition and curation; data generation, software development, enterprise information management; Governance, cloud integration, amongst other services.
