'He is a true coward': Children of woman killed in traffic crash speak at driver's sentencing - The Times Herald

The son of an elderly woman killed in a traffic crash told the driver that he was a coward and a liar.

"(He) only thinks about himself. He is a true coward, a liar. He caused her death and that is on him, and with the utmost amount of selfishness he chose to be a coward," said Eric Longuski, the son of Mary Anna Longuski.

Adam Bullock, of Peck, was sentenced to a year in the Sanilac County Jail and two years of probation Thursday.

Eric Longuski, and Mary Anna's daughter, Vicki VanConant, described their mother as a loving, selfless person.

"She always thought of others first," Eric Longuski said. "People say that about their mom, that they were very thoughtful and giving but I can say that everybody that knew my mom, I have to believe they agree with me. She was that kind of person."

Bullock struck and killed 77-year-old Mary Anna Longuski on Oct. 18, 2020, in Peck. He lied to first responders about the circumstances of the incident, claiming she collapsed in the road, and did not tell the first responders that he had struck her with his vehicle.

Eric Longuski and VanConant said Bullock's actions at the scene hindered first responders from giving Mary Anna proper medical care.

"Mr. Bullock chose to save himself that day instead of helping my mother. That choice is why we're here today," VanConant said. "Life is about choices. Some are easy and some are hard. Mr. Bullock struck her, ending her life, and then lied about it, protecting himself."
