High-speed pursuit ends in multiple charges for local man - Hot Springs Sentinel

A local felon with felony charges pending in Garland County Circuit Court was arrested on multiple charges, including felony fleeing, after a lengthy high-speed pursuit Thursday night by Garland County sheriff's deputies.

Blake Daniel Johnson, 30, who lists a Chappel Hill Road address, was taken into custody shortly before 9 p.m. and charged with a felony count of fleeing in a vehicle, punishable by up to six years in prison, and misdemeanor counts of reckless driving, careless and prohibited driving, driving on a suspended license and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Johnson, who was previously convicted of felony fleeing on Aug. 29, 2019, and sentenced to six years in prison with all of it suspended, was also cited for improper lane change, driving left of center, improper turn signal, failure to obey a stop sign and speeding. He was being held on a $3,500 bond and was set to appear Friday in Garland County District Court.

Johnson was arrested on July 6, 2020, on multiple charges including simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, possession of a firearm by certain persons, and other drug charges after a single-vehicle wreck on Marion Anderson Road and is set to stand trial in circuit court on Oct. 19.

According to the probable cause affidavit on Thursday's arrest, shortly before 8 p.m., Deputy Richard Garrett was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Otis Trail regarding someone refusing to leave.
