Garland, Plano police investigating shooting death of Lyft driver; man wounded by police - The Dallas Morning News

Garland and Plano police are investigating two incidents involving the shooting of a gunman who was wounded at Plano police headquarters and the death of a Lyft driver who was shot in Garland.

Garland police responded to a call just before noon about a gunshot wound in the 400 block of Forest Gate Drive, near the intersection of Forest Lane and Shiloh Road.

The caller said someone had been shot and that the victim’s car had been stolen, police said.

Officers found a woman who had been fatally shot. It’s unclear what led to the shooting, police said.

Authorities said the woman, who was not identified, was a Lyft driver and had given someone a ride.

Garland police said they learned that the woman’s car was later found at the scene of a shooting that took place at Plano police headquarters.

In Plano, officers responded to police headquarters in the 900 block of 14th street at about 12:15 p.m. after a man was “behaving erratically,” police said.

The man, who was wearing a black shirt and mask, walked into the lobby of the building twice, police said.

During his second trip to the lobby, he raised a handgun and fired in the direction of a civilian police employee who was helping another person in the lobby, police said.

The civilian employee and the other person took shelter in a room as two police officers responded to the shooting from inside the building, police said.
