Ainsley Maitland-Niles hits out at Arsenal in social media transfer plea - The Mirror

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has made a passionate plea to let him join Everton.

But Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has blocked the potential move and told the 24-year-old in showdown talks on Monday that he will have to stay put at Arsenal.

Maitland-Niles is desperate to get his career going again after becoming frustrated at Arsenal because of a lack of game time this season.

The England international posted on Instagram: “All I wanna do is go where I’m wanted and where I’m gonna play @arsenal.”

Everton want to sign Maitland-Niles on a season-long loan with an option to sign him permanently next summer as Toffees boss Rafa Benitez is keen to bring in a new right back.

They made a bid on Sunday night and Arsenal appeared ready to let him go - only then to do a U-turn and change their minds on Monday to leave the player unhappy and confused.

That perhaps explains why Maitland-Niles has been left so frustrated as he wants his future resolved but they have left him high and dry.

Maitland-Niles has got two years left on his contract, clearly would not sign another deal because he is not playing and yet Arteta has not given him a chance, even bringing on a left back in Nuno Tavares at right back ahead of him at Brentford on the opening day.

Arsenal fans have been supportive of Maitland-Niles on social media as they do not want to lose another home grown talent but many say that he should have been given a chance in the starting line-up.
