When participating on the NSW Department of Education’s social media channels, you must follow the department’s rules of engagement and the platforms’ own community guidelines:

Age limit

Social media platforms require users to be at least 13 years old before they can create an account, therefore, any users under the age of 13 would be banned and reported.

Tagging or naming students

Photos/videos of students can only be published if the correct NSW Department of Education permission to publish forms have been completed by the student’s parent or guardian.

For privacy and protection, please do not tag photos/videos of children, and please do not name them in your comments/replies, unless the previously mentioned permission is sought.

Tagging of parents or friends within comments/replies is permitted with the understanding that all other rules of engagement are followed.

Comments

The department encourages interaction from participants with the understanding that the department does not endorse comments/replies or wall postings made by social media users on the channel. We ask that users making comments/replies on the channel show respect for other users by ensuring discussions remain civil.

Personal attacks, trolling or spam will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to remove comments that do not adhere to the rules of engagement of our channels, including comments that:

  • are deemed racist, sexist, abusive, profane, violent, obscene, spam
  • advocate illegal...
