Derma, MS (August 31, 2021) – A deadly crash was reported in Calhoun County on Sunday night, August 29.
The fatal accident reportedly took place on W. Veterans Avenue near Derma. Local authorities were dispatched to the scene at around 7:27 p.m. According to reports from the Calhoun County coroner, two vehicles were involved in the impact.
One person was killed in the collision. The deceased victim was later identified as Shevante Welch. She was pronounced dead by responding medical personnel. The victim’s child was also injured following the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the impact.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local officials.
