Trinbago Knight Riders skipper Kieron Pollard has taken full responsibility for his team's Super Over defeat by the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Hero Caribbean Premier League on Wednesday.
The Amazon Warriors successfully defended six runs in the Super Over, after the game ended in a tie.
Pollard, who was out the first ball in the Super Over, said the defeat was his responsibility.
The Knight Riders have lost three of their five games in the 2021 season and the skipper conceded their performances have been less than perfect.
"It has been challenging. You have seen all teams struggling but having said that, we need to play with smarts. I thought we were short, but we bowled well," said Pollard.
After totalling 138/9, the Knight Riders had reduced the Amazon Warriors to 105/7 in 17.2 overs with the dismissal of Nicholas Pooran.
Player of the Match Romario Shepherd then hit 18 off nine balls to turn the game back toward the Amazon Warriors.
"After the wicket of Nicholas, we should have been tighter, instead of giving freebies to Romario, but these things happen," Pollard said.
He praised the work of Akeal Hosein, who took 1/16 and snared a fantastic catch to dismiss Pooran.
"That was fantastic. The way he has been going throughout the tournament was fantastic. And the way he came and bowled the last over defended 8, and took us to the last over, showed his talent." Pollard said.
