Thousands of social media users were left disappointed this afternoon as the Instagram app appeared to be down.
Social media fans all over the world have complained about not being able to access the photo posting app, as it seemed to be suffering technical difficulties.
Many have reported that stories and messages are not loading or sending and newsfeeds also aren't refreshing.
DownDetector was hit with a sharp spike as news of the outage became a hot topic on Twitter.
One said: "Instagram users on their way to Twitter to see wtf happened #instagramdown."
Another wrote: "Me after turning off my wifi 5 times then realising Instagram is down. #instagramdown."
While one commented: "Me going on Twitter to confirm that Instagram is really down. #instagramdown."
According to DownDetector, reports of outages began escalating around 10am.
Nearly 5,000 complaints were lodged - with most in the UK coming from London, Manchester, and Glasgow.
Users of the popular social media app were left frustrated after an error message appeared for many saying there is an issue with the service.
