Bakersfield, CA (September 02, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed on Tuesday, August 31st after being struck by a car on Taft Highway in Bakersfield.
The coroner’s office has identified the deceased as 25-year-old William Alejandro Romero, a resident of Bakersfield.
Police were called to the scene at about 8:45 p.m. in the 5400 block of Taft Highway. Upon their arrival, they located a man down on the north shoulder of the roadway.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver stayed at the scene and has cooperated with the investigation.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
