Past Chamber of Commerce President, Managing Director of the Burns Conolly Group, and well-known local architect, William Burns Conolly passed away on Wednesday September 1 due to a terminal illness.
The Chamber of Commerce stated in a release: “Burns was a tremendous visionary leader in the development industry and worked on some of Cayman’s largest development projects. He was among the first qualified architects in the Cayman Islands. He served as Chamber President from 2001-2002 during some of the most challenging times when the world and the Cayman Islands were coping with the terrible tragedy of 9/11.” Mr Conolly’s father, Warren Conolly, was a founding member of the Chamber of Commerce and his mother, Islay, was the recipient of the Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement in Education Award.
With decades of experience in Cayman’s growing construction and development industry, Mr Conolly was
Cayman's first architect to be registered with the American Institute of Architects and played an instrumental role in the development of Camana Bay.
The Loop Cayman family extends our sympathies to Mr Conolly’s family and friends.
