Social media has become a trend among students. Majority of the students use several social media networking sites such Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. The use of social media is increasing day by day due to accessibility and advancements of applications and their features. Vast majority of students have become highly addicted to social media, which in result diverts their attention, wastes their precious time and resources, adversely affects their physical and mental health, and mainly, negatively influences on their academic performance. In such scenarios, many parents are worried about their children because of the perpetual use of social media sites.
Therefore, multiple studies should be conducted in the form of research in our context on the excessive use of social media because findings of such studies will surely help in dealing with use of social media not only for students and their parents but also for teachers, policy makers and educational stakeholders.
