Raleigh, NC (September 3, 2021) – Around 8:15 p.m. on the night of Friday, September 3, a car accident with injuries occurred on a highway in Raleigh.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-40 around the area of I-440. A police cruiser was traveling in the area when it collided with a passenger vehicle due to reasons that are not yet known. The police cruiser had heavy damages to its front end and rear end. The sedan involved in the accident had damages to its rear portion.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The officer and one other party were injured as a result of the accident. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Two left eastbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area until approximately 8:45 p.m. This led to delays in the area.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
