Tropical storm advisory issued for Bermuda | Loop Cayman Islands - Loop News Cayman

A tropical storm warning has been issued for Bermuda as the island is expected to be impacted by the outer rain bands of Hurricane Larry.

The US National Hurricane Centre (NHC) said Larry is expected to produce an inch or two of rainfall across Bermuda.

At 11 am AST, NHC said Larry was located over the central Atlantic Ocean about 500 miles (805 km) southeast of Bermuda.

Larry is moving toward the northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h) and is expected to turn toward the north-northeast in the next few days.

NHC expects the centre of Larry to pass east of Bermuda on Thursday and move near or over southeastern Newfoundland late on Friday.

Larry is now a category two hurricane with maximum sustained winds that are near 110 mph (175 km/h). The hurricane is expected to weaken during the next few days.

Larry’s hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the centre and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles (335 km).

Swells generated by Larry will continue to affect the Leeward Islands, portions of the Greater Antilles and the Bahamas through midweek and impact Bermuda through the end of the week.
