Bakersfield, CA (September 8, 2021) – A pedestrian collision reported in the Bakersfield area claimed the life of one woman on the morning of September 8. Just after 7:00 a.m., emergency crews were called to the site of the fatal crash on Reina Road.
Reports from authorities show that a woman identified as Ivonne Lizbeth Vivas, a 48-year-old Bakersfield resident, lost her life after being struck by a car in the 11600 block of Reina Road.
According to officials, a 17-year-old driver struck the woman while she was attempting to cross the roadway. Two other pedestrians were also knocked down in the collision but sustained no injuries.
Vivas was declared deceased at the scene by medical professionals who responded to the call concerning the crash. At this time, authorities in Bakersfield continue to investigate the details of the incident.
Various responders were observed in the area for an extended period of time on the morning of September 8. Traffic delays ensued and local motorists were urged to find alternative travel routes.
