Two people injured in motorcycle accident - Cheboygan Daily Tribune

TOPINABEE — Two people from Cheboygan were taken to the hospital in Petoskey with serious, non-life threatening injuries after another vehicle turned in front of their motorcycle in Topinabee on Sept. 2.
At 4:47 p.m. on Sept. 2, deputies with the Cheboygan County Sheriff's Department, Cheboygan Life Support Systems ambulance and the Topinabee Fire Department were dispatched to the two-vehicle, personal injury accident. The accident was on North Straits Highway, at the intersection of Topinabee Mail Route, in Mullett Township.
"The first vehicle — a 2017 Lincoln MKC, driven by a 36-year-old woman from Indian River — was traveling north on North Straits Highway and waiting to turn left onto Topinabee Mail Route," said Cheboygan County Sheriff Dale Clarmont. "An uninvolved vehicle was southbound on North Straits Highway and was turning right onto Topinabee Mail Route."
Clarmont said the woman from Indian River began to turn left onto Topinabee Mail Route after the uninvolved vehicle had turned. She did not see the 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle carrying a 36-year-old Cheboygan man and a 30-year-old Cheboygan woman that had been behind the vehicle that had already turned onto Topinabee Mail Route.
"The Lincoln MKC turned in front of the motorcycle," said Clarmont. "The driver attempted to accelerate, to avoid the second vehicle, but was unable to do so."
