Austin Ekeler fantasy managers were given a bit of a scare this week. The 26-year-old missed a few practices this week due to a hamstring issue, but it sounds like he'll be good to go for the season opener.
He should be viewed as a legit RB1 in PPR leagues this week.
Austin Ekeler Fantasy Outlook
Ekeler draws a really difficult matchup this week, as his Los Angeles Chargers take on the Washington Football Team. Washington was a top-12 defense against the run last year by DVOA, surrendering just 4.2 yards per carry, which also was a top-12 mark.
As a result, Washington surrendered just 18.78 PPR points per game to opposing RBs last year, which was the third-best mark in the league.
The matchup isn't ideal, but Ekeler's ability as a pass-catcher (5.8 receptions per game through nine healthy contests) should give him a high floor on a week-to-week basis.
With Ekeler at full strength, fantasy managers should be firing him up in the starting lineup this week. He checks in at RB10 in The Duel's Week 1 fantasy football rankings.
