On September 11, following reports of COVID-19 spread in the community, a Loop Cayman reporter interviewed a British school teacher working in the Cayman Islands. Here is what she had to say.

Teacher: Private
Loop Cayman: What is role at the school?
Teacher: Classroom teacher
Loop Cayman: Does your school have a COVID-19 preparedness plan? If yes, what are the details and when does it go into effect?
Teacher: We have had two meetings this week about our strategy and we have a document outlining our plan. We are in stage two of our plan which includes extra sanitation (sanitizer is applied as kids enter the class room and at snack and play time) and placing children in smaller groups. Only two classes at a time at snack/play is also provided. Tables are spaced out at lunch and desks are 3ft apart in the classrooms. This went into effect on Thursday. We are also making sure all out online teaching platforms are ready if we need them. Masks are optional.
Loop Cayman: Who writes the protocol?
Teacher: Our management team. It is then discussed in staff meetings
Loop Cayman: Has your school had any COVID-19 scares in the past 12 months?
Teacher: No
Loop Cayman: What is the protocol if one child becomes positive?
Teacher: Contact tracing and isolation for all students within their individual smaller groups.
