CBI names 4 in chargesheets for derogatory social media posts targeting judiciary - India Today

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed four separate chargesheets against four accused before a competent court in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur in a case of derogatory posts on social media targeting judges and the judiciary.

The first chargesheet has been filed against Dhani Reddy Konda Reddy, second against Pamula Sudheer, third against Adarsh Pattapu (Aadarsh Reddy) and fourth against Lavanuru Samba Siva Reddy (Siva Reddy).

According to the chargesheet, Dhanireddy Kondareddy and Pamula Sudhir were operating Facebook accounts with the names - "Kondareddy Dhanireddy YSRCP" and "Guntur Metropolis". These accounts were used to post objectionable posts on the social media platform.

The chargesheet also states that Pamula Sudhir worked as a medical representative in Guntur.

HC directed CBI to probe cases

CBI first registered a case in this regard on November 11, 2020, against 16 accused. The agency then took over the investigation of 12 FIRs from Andhra Pradesh Police CID (Crime Investigation Department) as ordered by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

It was alleged in those FIRs that key personnel occupying posts of prominence in the state of Andhra Pradesh intentionally targeted the judiciary by making derogatory posts on social media against judges following some court verdicts delivered by the High Court.
