Decatur, MS (September 12, 2021) – On Sunday, September 12th, deputies from the Newton County Sheriff’s Department responded to a three-vehicle crash with fatalities on State Highway 15 in the area of Ledlow Road.
Initial reports show that a 2009 Honda CRV driven by 29-year-old Mary A. Evans, a resident of Decatur, was heading northbound on MS 15. At the same time, a 2004 Ford Expedition driven by 30-year-old Treyon L. Mack, also from Decatur, was heading northbound on MS-15 behind the Honda.
A 2011 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 22-year-old Christopher A. Cook, from Decatur, was driving southbound along the same roadway.
For reasons still under investigation, the CRV and the Expedition collided head-on with the Silverado.
Mary Evans and Treyon Mack both sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Christopher Cook was moderately injured. He was transported to Jeff Anderson Hospital in Meridian.
25-year-old Tamara M. Bradley, from Decatur, a passenger in the CRV, was unharmed during the crash.
27-year-old Cornelius M. Bradley, of Decatur, a passenger in the CRV, was med flighted from Laird Hospital to UMC in serious condition.
Two children, both passengers in the CRV, were also airlifted from Laird Hospital and taken to Batson Children’s Hospital in Decatur.
