The first Manningcast for ESPN’s Monday Night Football is in the books. Monday’s season opener came with Peyton, Eli, and a number of notable guests including Travis Kelce, Russell Wilson, Charles Barkley. and Ray Lewis.
All did not go smoothly for the debut of the show however, as this hilarious moment happened at Eli Manning’s house during the middle of the broadcast.
The crew was certainly criticized early. Many on social media noted that it wasn’t easy to get into the flow of the game.
As the game went on however, the Manning brothers got comfortable and got into their groove, showing the world their football expertise. It was a welcome sight for many.
The Manningcast was a totally different experience from the broadcast on ESPN, which features Steve Levy, Brian Griese, and Louis Riddick in a more traditional setting. The Mannings were not afraid to tell the viewers how they saw it and call out every boneheaded mistake that either team made in the game.
It was a different feel to a traditional NFL football game, and many across the sports media industry gave their approval of the debuting cast.
It seems that the Mannings chose some quality guests, as they got some high praises as well.
Andrew Marchand of The New York Post reports that there were a few midgame adjustments made. He tweeted that what some thought was a hot mic, was actually a producer trying to keep Peyton and Eli focused on the clock.
