Premier: All contacts to George Town Primary should remain home | Loop Cayman Islands - Loop News Cayman

Cayman Islands Premier, Wayne Panton has re-confirmed that late last night a year 6 student at George Town Primary School with no travel history tested positive for COVID-19.

Contact tracing has not since revealed any positive cases. The school has since closed and everyone who is either employed by, a student at or a family member of one of the above are being tested for the virus.

Government is asking for the following forms of assistance:

  • All of the individuals mentioned above are required to remain home, wear masks, exercise hand hygiene and be physically distanced
  • Be aware that school counsellors are at hand to provide support
  • The individuals above will be contacted with instructions for testing

John Gray students will not be tested at this time.

The Premier is asking those who have not yet been vaccinated to do so at this time.

Cabinet will also be meeting today to revisit rules. While there will not be a lock down at this time, rules will likely be changed associated with quarantine and other measures. The public will be advised of these changes at 5pm.

The vaccination clinic is open at Camana Bay today.

“We must not allow complacency to creep in,” said the Premier.
