Bouncers at Tall Ship bar in East Boston accused of assaulting nurses - WCVB Boston

BOSTON —
Two bouncers at a popular bar in Boston are facing charges after they allegedly assaulted nurses who were asked to leave the establishment.
The Massachusetts State Police said the two men who work at The Tall Ship in East Boston, 38-year-old David Ortega and 28-year-old Mario Reyes, were arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a shod foot.
Two people, a 23-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital to be further evaluated by Boston Emergency Medical Services personnel, according to state police.
One of the two people injured works at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital and told NewsCenter 5 that she and two other colleagues were at The Tall Ship on Monday night when the incident happened.
She said she was accused of being intoxicated by bar staff when she tripped on a mat and was asked to leave the establishment. According to the nurse, she and her colleagues immediately left the bar when she was asked to leave at about 8 p.m., but she admits that security personnel may have misunderstood what they were saying.
"Security ran after us, accusing of us that we were yelling at people to not go into that bar, which was not the case," she said.
The nurse, who asked to remain anonymous, said the bouncers kicked her female colleague's legs out from under her and that's when the assault began.
"Somebody just sucker-punched me in the jaw, which (made me fall) to the ground, and then they kicked my legs," she said....
