Reports from local authorities show that a collision between a white van and a dark-colored sedan blocked the Major Deegan Expressway in the area of West 238th Street.
The incident caused severe disruptions in traffic as crews worked to move the vehicles and debris from the roadway.
EMS tended to victims who were injured in the accident. An unknown number of people were transported to area hospitals for further care.
At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.
