The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) said that, just before 3:40PM on Tuesday, September14, police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre regarding a robbery that took place at a business located on Eastern Avenue.
RCIPS said that two masked men entered the establishment and one of the men brandished a machete and demanded money. A quantity of cash was taken by the men and they made off from the location in a white sedan motor vehicle. No one was injured during the incident.
According to the RCIPS, one of the men was described as wearing a white t-shirt, long jeans and mask on his face, the second man was wearing a white t-shirt, dark coloured shorts, a hat and had a camouflage scarf covering his face.
The RCIPS confirmed that, shortly after the incident, a 22-year-old-man of George Town was arrested on suspicion of robbery in relation to the incident. He is currently in custody pending further investigation.
The incident is being investigated by the police and detectives are asking anyone with information to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
